The Bank On Kelly Hygge Villa is the perfect Writer’s Retreat – an ideal place to block out your world and knuckle down with only the things that matter to you… and put pen to paper… fingers to keyboard… stare at the clouds… think your own thoughts… wander in the garden… smell the roses (literally!) … recline on the terrace… ponder the universe while you gaze at the stars… and sip on your wine…!
Our Villa is a tranquil space, full of cosy internal nooks, beautiful garden areas and homely spaces aplenty, for you to relax, enjoy and be inspired! Think, drink, eat, sleep and muse in peace, while listening to the beautiful sounds of native birds in our delightfully appointed garden, or, if you prefer, crank up your favourite tunes via our Bluetooth speaker and fill the entire house with your own creatrix playlist! There are no nosy or noisy neighbours to worry about here! It’s just you.
We have a piano and a guitar… we have writers’ desks… we have cosy leather lounges and plush top beds… you can work in the comfort and serenity of your own cosy room or curl up with your laptop and notepad in a corner somewhere – anywhere…!
We have unlimited WIFI supporting 6 devices simultaneously – and though you probably won’t want to use it – it is always nice to know it is there if you need it. Netflix too – Uh-uh! – you need to focus!
Our Villa is fully equipped for you to move right in – you need bring nothing but yourself and your writing tools!
All bedding, towels, bathroom supplies are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, with oven, gas stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are supplied, with lots of herbal tea options! We have a coffee pod machine for the more seriously inclined coffee lovers, we provide breakfast, all-inclusive and you even get a complimentary bottle of bubbly with your stay!
There are eateries galore within an easy stroll; cafes, pubs – and even fine dining at The Cottage, but two doors down, if you want to treat yourself!
We have reverse cycle aircon, gas heating, electric blankets – the works. Of 1915 vintage, the property is fully refurbished inside and is cosily warm in the Winter and delightfully cool in the Summer. Bask in the shaded garden, which boasts a beautiful adornment of roses, shade trees, succulents and all manner of flora that will delight every sense! The outdoor paved and pergola area provides enough outdoor seating for up to 14 people and there are garden benches and easy chairs too!
Designed for comfortable living, not just sleeping, all of our bedrooms are secluded on the top floor of the building, are individually lockable, and feature either King, Queen, or Double beds (all plush top, if you please!), bedside tables with reading lamps, charging ports, device plugs, and 4 of 5 rooms have an enclosed veranda space with garden or street views, and plenty of seating. You have a surfeit of choices for spaces in which to write!
There’s an indoor dining table that seats 8 people and a cosy loungeroom with enough seating for same.
Take the whole Villa on your own – and luxuriate in solitude or perhaps you have like-minded companions who would relish in enjoying this eclectic space with you – the perfect, secluded and discreet environ to refine and excite your creative juices, together!
Being artistically inclined and very creative folk ourselves, we here at The Bank On Kelly Hygge Villa most certainly understand the need that Writers, and indeed, all Creatives have, for a nurturing space in which to think, play, and muse away your day!
Our Villa is an inclusive and welcoming space for all types of guests, from all walks of life. We like to offer a discounted rate to our writers and other creatives looking for a ‘Writer in Residence’, or ‘Writers’ Group’ longer-term stay, for two weeks or more, and even greater discounts can be arranged for you, if you’d like four weeks and longer…!
If you’re coming as a group, we have six separate beds, so can provide enough bedding for up to 12-14 people – if you’re happy to share! (We can do one additional queen mattress on the floor, and an additional single bed if needed.) Of course, if each writer wants their own room, we have only five separate bedrooms, so do bear this in mind!
